What’s Holding You Back and How to Overcome It

Hi everyone,

Happy Tuesday and welcome back to the blog aka my thought-dumper! LOL. Hope you all had a rejuvenating weekend and a totally kickass Monday to start off your week. I know I did! Looking back on the blog posts these past few months, I’ve noticed how often I talk about how ready we are for change. How we are all in this state of growing and learning and setting out to achieve our goals. And while that may be true for some of us, I’ve been thinking about all of those people who aren’t there yet. And just because I’m at that point in my life doesn’t mean everyone else is! In fact, looking back at me one year ago or even six months ago, I was nowhere close to being ready to commit, to take the plunge, and invest in myself the way that I’m asking you to. That’s what I wanted to really dive into today. To figure out what’s holding you back and how you can overcome it to live in a state of total abundance.

There are so many variables that sprout up like obstacles in our lives, preventing us from achieving what we most want to achieve and therefore, unable to live the life we want (and deserve) to live. Money, fear, time, low self-esteem—the list goes on. I think it’s safe to say I’ve experienced every single one at one point in my life or another, but each one of you has a unique story to tell with your own unique set of goals and obstacles. The task is to dig deep and pinpoint what it is that’s holding you back. After that? Well, sometimes you just have to sit with that for awhile! I know I sure as hell did. It’s easy to get caught up in the world of Instagram where everyone is preaching at you to tap into your best self and get over hurdles. That the only thing standing in the way of you and your dreams is your mindset. And if only you could just be better, then all of your dreams can be achieved just like that.

But no one really tells you the truth. Which is that even once you realize what’s been preventing you from living “your best life,” and you’re then “free” to achieve your goals, sometimes it still doesn’t happen.

Whoa. I know. That went deep.

But I believe it because I lived it. I’ve done the work of sitting with myself and journaling, talking it out with friends, and being open and humble about my setbacks. I’ve dug deep to discover the factors in my head and in my reality that were subconsciously preventing me from reaching my goals. And once I did, I still felt confused about what to do next. And that’s okay. That’s real.

Figuring out your setbacks is only half the battle. But it is a huge weight off your shoulders, it provides a new sense of freedom and clarity to have an answer and from there, you can develop a plan to tackle it head-on. To reinvest in yourself and find a new burst of energy to propel you forward step by step, inch by inch. That energy may be slow to start, but the more you invest in it, in yourself, you’ll feel that fire within you burn more and more, grow larger and larger. That path leading you to your goals will unravel right at your feet.

So I want to ask you: what’s holding you back?

Is it your living situation? Your mindset? Money? Friends? Family? Is it a combination of everything I just listed? Let this question sit with you for the rest of the day—heck, even the rest of the week—and get back to me. I want to know what’s holding you back. I want to know what prevents you from taking care of yourself, from allowing yourself to dream big and put in actions to make those dreams a reality.

We all seem to invest in everyone else but ourselves these days. If I weren’t so passionate about the health and beauty industry, I swear I’d be a certified self-care advocate. Seriously, take care of yourself! You have to put you first most of the time. Not some of the time. I’m not saying you should be walking around like a selfish asshole (who wants to be around that person, LOL). But I think that’s one of the biggest misconceptions about self-care and it has prevented us from living our lives to the fullest. You are not selfish for wanting to put yourself first. You must do what’s necessary to take care of you and pursue your most passionate dreams! So I’ll ask again: what’s holding you back right now?

Once you figure out what that is?

That is where I come in. I will meet you wherever you’re at. I will sit with you and help you come up with a plan that is attainable and clear, one that has a plan of execution so that you can take back control of your happiness and financial freedom.
