Why I Started This New Journey

I’m sitting here less than a week before my first Beauty Insiders Brunch event on Sunday and all I can think is: it’s too late to turn back now! HA. In all seriousness (and really, it is too late to stop now), there’s been so much excitement and forward progression with all of my plans that I haven’t had too much time to stop and reflect until now. I love these moments. When I take that moment to hit the pause button, I receive so much clarity in where I am now and where I’ve come from. There are so many reasons why I’m excited for my event—meeting all of you, tasty cocktails and talking with our speakers to name a few—but there’s one in particular I keep thinking about: this is the first major achievement since launching this new endeavor. Whoa! How crazy is that?! Planning this event has reminded me of why I started this journey in the first place, and hope that by sharing my story you’ll feel just as inspired to take that first big step of your own.

Why I Love What I Do

I started this journey because of how much I love this industry. It’s as simple as that. I can literally talk your ear off all day about how amazing the beauty industry is. Inspiring, adaptive, challenging—it’s all of those things and so much more! As beauty professionals we play such an important role in people’s lives, helping them treat themselves and helping them feel their very best. Even deeper than that, we are able to form these strong bonds with our clients that most other industries don’t have the chance to do. I always joke that our roles as salon owners, hairdressers, makeup artists, nail techs and estheticians are just an addition to our main role as therapists! LOL. But I am so grateful for that. I love hearing about my clients’ high moments and successes, and I love lending an ear through their low moments, too. Lastly, I love how much we can learn in this field! The beauty world is constantly changing with trends and products, and it challenges me to stay on top of it all. We can learn so much from each other, seeing how others do things behind the chair and in business, and that motivation to learn inspires me every day.

When I Knew I Wanted to Do More

“Jess, you’re not doing enough” —said no one ever. But I can’t help it! There’s this drive in me to keep growing, keep learning, and keep doing. That drive is exactly what led me to the start of this business journey. I had all of these amazing ideas, but they meant nothing unless I put them into action. I had to finally give myself permission to dream bigger and take messy action! Done will always be better than perfect! And even though I’m still learning as I go, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What I Am Bringing to the Industry

A huge learning curve for me when I started this was deciding what I was going to bring. It seems like there’s so many people out there all doing the same thing, and honestly, I felt overwhelmed! What could I offer? What did I have to bring to the table? What am I doing that’s different? All those questions and more flooded my mind. I really had to hit that pause button and think, what is this amazing industry needing? The first thing that came to mind was community. A strong sense of TRIBE, a voice that was saying all the same things we’re all thinking and wondering about starting a business, building a loyal clientele, making money, and so much more. I want to foster that community in a number of ways, so that each and every one of you can participate in our community in the best way for YOU. Whether it’s hosting events like the Beauty Insiders Brunch, offering one-on-one business consulting, or leading small group masterminds, I am opening up all of these avenues so that you can make the most out of your career, make the money you want to make, and live the life you’ve been dreaming of. Isn’t that what community and tribe is all about?

I know how intimidating that first step can be—just ask my friends, who had to listen to me go back and forth for weeks on end!!—so let me help you through it. Check out my event page, or send me a message if you’re interested in talking business with me!
